Looking Back
Since my first arrival at Aclc, I have changed a lot through the school’s unique teaching and scheduling system. I learned how to manage my work while also enjoying my time in school. The positive outcomes of being a learner at ACLC is developing better self-management and responsibility. The free periods helped me engage in social activities with others. It really helped me better know the people I went to class with. I could imagine how tough it would be to start school off knowing no one. Through my mid years of middle school I started having problems with my academics. My control over work and downtime causing me to struggle in my classes. I was able to get my act together and my grades improved.
As in any school, I developed better academic skills. being assigned essays and independent reading brought out my intellectual side helping me give better input in discussions. I never enjoyed reading but when we were assigned books to read, it actually raised my interest in approaching reading at home and at school because there was a purpose. With given question, I could look deeper into the details of the plot to interpret what happened and what may happen. I strengthened many key elements in the subject of reading and writing. Same principles applied to other academics like economics, government and calculus. I learned that the ability to comprehend important details in subjects is the ideal way of learning and excelling in various fields of education.
Being in school definitely challenged my good judgement. I had to set priorities that would work best at any point in one year. Each year needed a clean slate to construct a new agenda for what comes first. Although it was hard I always tried to keep school at the top of the list even if I got caught up with other things outside of school. In middle school it seemed acceptable to rely on my parent to make me stay on top of things but there is a certain point in maturity as I entered highschool that it was time to be independent in my work and not put the responsibility on my parents.
My interpersonal abilities  has seen many changes in group work at ACLC. I didn't really like working in groups early on but over many experiences I grown fond of the group effort and sharing of ideas. I seems to help everyone when different perspectives are being tossed around. I thought it was important to be an active team member because other are reliant on you to complete your piece of the project.
I always found technology to be a resourceful tool in many academic assignments. I used it to research topics for every class and apply the information in an appropriate manner. This new wave of technology for my generation is a tool that deserves much appreciation and I used it to great advantage.
overall, these seven years at ACLC has given me many useful attributes which are not perfected, but this school has definitely laid the foundation of great skills to be developed in my future years as a student and member of society.
